- Queen’s University MA in Interpreting
- Signature Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting BSL/English
- Signature Level 6 Diploma in Sign Language Translation
- Leeds University MA in Interpreting BSL/English with a mark of 53% or above for module MO5802M ‘BSL for interpreters’
- Heriot Watt University Certificate BSL/English Interpreting Studies Grade averaging ‘B’ or above
- SLI Advanced Diploma in Interpreting and Translation: BSL-English
- IBSL Level 6 Diploma in British Sign Language Interpreting Studies
- Wolverhampton University BA (Hons) in Interpreting (BSL/English) (graduates who achieve a first class degree from September 2017 onwards)
- Durham University MA BSL/English Interpreting up to and including the year 2000
- CACDP RQSLI Examination
- Bristol University BSc BSL/English Interpreting
- Bristol University DipHE (Deaf Studies)
- AND have achieved one of the following BSL assessments:

- University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) PostGraduate Diploma in BSL/English Interpreting and Translation
- Heriot Watt University Diploma course with Grade C or above in Module C40BV1 British Sign Language
- Heriot-Watt University MA (Hons) BSL (Interpreting, Translating and Applied Language Studies)
- Heriot Watt University MA (Hons) Languages (Interpreting and Translating) (Graduates studying BSL and the amalgamated 4th year course)
- Durham University MA in Translation Studies (graduates need to complete the professional pathway including MELA43930 addressed using spoken English and BSL)
- University of Bristol BSL Advanced Level Module D30015 with a mark of 65% or above
- University of Wolverhampton BSL Module 1G3006 with a grade of B11 or above
- University of Wolverhampton BSL Modules Lang 40120, Lang 40420, Lang 40320 with a minimum overall grade of 60%
- Leeds University MODL 5802M ‘BSL for Interpreters” with a mark of 53% or above
- University of Wolverhampton BSL modules 6IG001 with a grade of B11 or above and 6IG004 with a grade of B11 or above
- CACDP Stage III (advanced) Examination in Sign Communication Skills
- Signature Level 6 NVQ Certificate in BSL
- IBSL Level 6 Certificate in BSL Studies
- University of Durham Postgraduate Diploma in Interpreting with the Deaf Community BSL skills Modules LANG 40120, LANG 40420, LANG 40320 with a minimum grade of 60%
- Leeds University MODL 5802M ‘BSL for Interpreters’ with a mark of 53% or above
Applicants with an interpreting/language qualification not listed above are also welcome to apply for registration, however they must hold a BSL qualification as above. Acceptance shall be on a case by case basis.
RBSLI has reviewed the process by which interpreters and translators can become WASLI/WFD accredited, it has agreed that those International Sign accredited interpreters who wish to register with RBSLI shall be able to do so as IS interpreters or translators only.
